What is the Euromillions Lottery ?
EuroMillions is a lottery game played weekly on Friday by millions of players from across Europe.
The game has participants from nine countries, including Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK.
The prize pool is put together from stakes generated from each of the nine countries, and the main jackpot prize starts at 15 Million Euros. If the jackpot is not won during a specific week, the prize pool is 'carried over' to the following week.
The record for a single winner is 115 Million Euros, and the highest jackpot ever was 183 Million Euros.
These huge jackpots have turned the EuroMillions Lottery into one of the most lucrative and exciting lotteries in the world.
The History Of Euro Millions
The story of the Euro Millions Lottery began in 1994. Originally, the idea had been to launch a new European Lottery at around the same time as a single European currency, but as often happens, bureaucracy, politics and other miscellaneous factors meant that the plan was delayed a number of times before coming to fruition some ten years later.
The first Euro Millions draw took place on Friday 13th February, 2004.
The EuroMillions was originally presented by three major lottery organisers: Camelot in the United Kingdom, the Francaise des Jeux in France and the Loterias y Apuestas des Estad in Spain.
The first Euro Millions jackpot was worth 15 million Euros. The highest has been over €183,000,000 euros, (yes, 183 MILLION Euros !) which was won by three lucky people. The largest single winner was Delores McNamara who won €115.6 million ($139,000,000 or £77,000,000).
Special Draws
