Where are National Lottery tickets sold?
There are official retailers throughout the UK and Isle of Man where you can purchase UK National Lottery tickets. You can also purchase tickets on the internet, phone or post. The only stipulation is that you are age 16 or older.
When can I buy a UK National Lottery ticket?
You may purchase lotto tickets during the regular business hours of the authorized lotto retailer. If you want to purchase a draw-based game, then you must purchase it before 7:30pm on the day of the draw. If you want to purchase tickets for Lotto, Dream Number, Lotto Hot Picks and Thunderball, then they are available from 6am to 11pm. They are not available between 7:30pm to 9pm neither on Saturdays nor after 7:30pm on Wednesdays.
What are the different types of UK Lottery tickets?
There are essentially two types of UK Lottery tickets available. These two types are the tickets for Lotto, Dream Number, Lotto Hot Picks, Thunderball, Daily Play and EuroMillions are all draw-based tickets. Draw-based tickets are purchased through retail terminals. The second types of ticket are the Scratchcard game tickets. These tickets are pre-printed tickets.
What are syndicates?
Syndicates are when a group of individuals play the UK National Lottery as one. In order to increase their chances of winning, some people like to join syndicates, even though they have to split a percentage of their winnings.
If I need to cancel my purchased ticket, can I?
The only way in which you can cancel your ticket is if it was issued in error, illegible or incomplete. This must be done within the first two hours after you purchased the ticket.
How do I know if I have won?
To know whether you won at a draw-based game, you either have to watch for the results on television, visit the retailer, or read the results in the newspaper and on Teletext and Ceefax. You may also contact the National Lottery Line or website.
