Choosing your numbers

The Euro Millions playslip has four sets of number boxes. The boxes are called "boards" and each board is split into two; a 'main board' on the left and 'Lucky Star numbers' on the right. Each board will cost you £1.50 in the UK or €2.00. If you live outside the UK you can Play Euro Millions Online. In the UK, the best way to play is via your regular lottery shop, or through an lottery syndicate.

On each board, you must select five numbers on the left 'main' section (1 to 50) and two numbers from the right 'Lucky Star' section (1 to 9). Select your numbers by marking a horizontal line through the number. If you want to pick another set of numbers, use another board. If you'd like the terminal to choose your numbers at random, mark the "Lucky Dip" box on your playslip or simply ask the retailer for a "Lucky Dip". (Note: You should not select a set of numbers and mark the "Lucky Dip" box on the same board.)

Choose The Number Of Weeks To Play

On every playslip, you'll see a section called "No. of Weeks" which lets you use the same set of numbers for up to four weeks, starting with the next selected draw.

Get Your Ticket and Check your ticket

When you've paid, the retailer will enter your selections into the terminal and give you a Euro Millions Lottery ticket. It will have your chosen numbers (including any Lucky Dip selections) and the draw date(s) printed on it. You must check that the numbers you have selected, the weeks you wish to play, the number of weeks and the draw date(s) are correct, that the barcoded serial number is clearly readable and that the "void" box on your ticket has not been marked. Then write your name and address on the back. Keep your ticket safe, you'll need it to check off your numbers in the draw. Don't lose it ! You'll need it to claim your prize, as it is the only proof that you are a winner.

Don't change countries

Rule (5) says, "Subject to the Rules, the Company will only pay out a Prize in the UK Game in respect of a Ticket and, for the avoidance of doubt, will not pay out a prize in respect of any ticket or entry for a lottery forming part of the Euro Millions Game issued by or on behalf of a Co-Promoter." This means if you buy a winning ticket in France, you can only collect your winnings in France - same for Spain and the UK. Of course, if its a jackpot, you'll fly over and collect, but if you only win £25 or £50 it probably wont be worth it. Moral: check your tickets before coming back off holiday.

How to win Euro Millions

There are twelve ways to win on Euro Millions. To win the Jackpot you must match all five main numbers AND your two Lucky Star numbers. Second prize is five main numbers and one Lucky Star, third is five main numbers and no Lucky Stars. Then comes the change: fourth prize is won by matching four main numbers and both Lucky Star numbers, fifth by matching four main numbers and one Lucky Star, etc. Check your results here. See here for more information on how the prizes are allocated between the different tiers.

Maximum Rollovers

Since 20th January 2006, the lottery operators introduced a cap on the number of times the jackpot could roll over. Predicting that it 'should' occur only once every 25 years, they set the limit at 12 rollovers, with the jackpot on the 12 draw rolling down to the next highest winning tier if not won directly - most likely the 5+1 star tier, see below.
